Default Masa Basjoo Banana

Hello Banana People! My husband and I purchased 3 dormant Masa Bajoo plants. While waiting for a good time to plant them outside, we had them in a large pot inside with good soil and filtered light by a window. We moved the pot outside about a week before planting them. We watered them only sparingly.

About 2 weeks ago we transplanted them in the prepared area and even though they are growing slowly, 2 or 3 new leaves on each plant, I have noticed brown spots and dried edges on a few leaves on each of the plants. I will attempt to put a picture up here of what I'm am talking about.

The plants are in a relatively sheltered near a fence with good drainage and full sun and are watered regularly with rain and hose. We are probably a little too anal about these sweet plants, but I want to be sure to snip any problems in the bud (so to speak).

So glad to have found this group, appreciate any and all advice!

We are in zone 6, Southern Illinois

Probably too much water. Temps, (soil/air) are not high enough to have rapid growth. Plant is probably drowning. Lay off water for a couple weeks and see what happens. A lack of water rarely kills a banana.

I just received two musa basjoo plants last week. Been in the ground for about 5 days now. They don't seem to be doing anything and the leaves are starting to turn yellow. Is this normal? How long does it take for them to take off? I live in Iowa zone 5

Yeah I agree. I would back off the water until temps warm up and growth speeds up.
