I learned from others as well. So nice to know what works and what doesn't. One thing I found extremely helpful was a book written by Shane Smith titled Greenhouse Gardeners Companion revised and expanded. Great book! Lots of resources and ideas. In my opinion, this is a must have book for anyone trying to go the greenhouse rout. I bought my book on eBay for $12.

I'll check that book out thanks. We're looking at a plot of land to build on, so I'm hoping to incorporate the greenhouse attached to the house (passive solar on the south side) because it will be most cost effective during a build.

BTW, your next post in this thread better have some pics or video!

Hiya Mark's Banana Forest Paradise

Mark is your Aquaponics all inside of the Green-house?
When I built my house I added an indoor arboretum that is totally surrounded by rooms so the only part exposed to the outdoor environment is the ceiling/roof which incorporates 5 skylights. Also included is 2 sun-tubes and a bunch of T-5 lights. Room is 14'L X 8'W X 21'H and is home to 6 Banana plants a little over 18 months now. My 9 pipe NFT system is on the first floor and the fish are in the basement. The biggest problem is the Arboretum stays at 70*F in winter @ 65% RH and in the summer does not get above 75*F. Thus, Banana plants grown much slower.

Looking for up-dates to your Green-house.

Craig

Current Nanners
Saba, Double Mahoi, Manzano, Gros Michel, Hua Moa, Truly Tiny or Princes, Raja Puri, an unconfirmed "ice cream", a balbasiana seedling I grew, a gifted unidentified plantain, and about 10+ rescue banana's

Wish List:
EVERYTHING!!!!! But i'd like to round out with some Hawaiian varieties and some plantain diversity.

Sorry everyone, haven’t been on in a while. Some bananas like indoor growing and some do not. AA bananas are pretty much a waist of time and space in the greenhouse. Winter is not kind to them.

Couple weeks ago I harvested the Dwarf Orinoco bananas from my aquaponic setup.

Currently I have several bunches hanging. Tall Namwah, Raja Puri, Dwarf Brazilian, Grand Nain, Goldfinger, Dwarf Orinoco, and a bloom just started on a Tall Orinoco
