Re: Mark's Banana Forest Paradise
Hello Mark here we call this kind greenhouses a tunnel greenhouses
It looks real nice to me. If you insulation is not so good juse bubbelrap plastic. Your biggest concern is if the plastic rips, and the wind gets under it. If you the plastic tight yokes you have no risk that it rips. Heavy snow By the shape of a tunnel there remains little to no snow on. |

Re: Mark's Banana Forest Paradise
yes an intimidating job, especially getting the second layer over the top layer by yourself. very hard work. I did something similar only on very much smaller scale. its just to protect my smaller bananas over the winter, I will take it down in the spring. I have ropes going across the top to keep the tarp and the plastic from falling in.

Re: Mark's Banana Forest Paradise
The structure and most of the plants did very well through winter. Low temp outside was 16f. Inside low temp was 35f. Hopefully soon I will improve the heating system for this coming winter.

Re: Mark's Banana Forest Paradise
Thank You.
Sorry for the late reply. Life gets busy sometimes and posting on the org takes a backseat. I have lots of pictures to share of plants and of a few improvements and of some additions. I added a fan with a thermostate to blow out hot air over 95f. Added a vent near the door to allow cool air in while the fan is running. I expanded my Aquaponic system and have a Dwarf Orinoco growing in it. My next improvement will be to the heating system. I can't waite to start on that. I will not give any details on that till I get it done.

Re: Mark's Banana Forest Paradise
Thanks Matt!
I had no idea these plants could grow that fast, and get that big. It's amazing! Soon I will show how the plants looked when I planted into the greenhouse, and how they look now. It really is amazing how small many of the plants were. Now one of them has a flower? I wonder which one? Really? 3 more are stacking? This greenhouse has changed everything for me.

Re: Mark's Banana Forest Paradise
I really need to get on that update. I have a years worth of pictures to get you guys all caught up. Overall the plants did great. A few had some problems with too much moisture. Spider mites were a problem for a while also. Man is a Namwah flower big! Oops! Did I give something away?

Re: Mark's Banana Forest Paradise
Thanks Mike!
The fish are doing great. I call them the sharks. Really they are just goldfish. 3 different kinds. They had a bunch of babies this year. Very happy fish! Over the last year they have eaten a bunch of army worms and slugs. I toss them in when I see them. When something hits the water, it doesn't last long. Kinda fun!
