Rmplmnz, yes I got that you weren't serious, and meant no disrespect to you. Just thought I'd clarify if others didn't.

Glad I got mine for $80. It paid for itself many times over. It would have even at $175!

Having been too young to have cared about a banana nursery at the time, I'd love to know what it used to be like going there.

Thanks!!

It was amazing the first time I walked through the rows of banana mattes. Don & Katie have done a great job with Going Bananas and are very good friends for 20 plus years. I remember speaking with Don the first day they were in business. Tissue culturing was a game changer for nurseries selling bananas and there is no going back. The amazing thing about Bill was he traveled the world in search of exotic banana varieties and introduced so many unique plants to Florida.

I still have copy (somewhere) of Bill Lessard's catalog with Fehi listed! I was amazed by the diversity and uniqueness. I am amazed by the journeys of all the South Florida Fruit Hunters/Pioneers. I was fortunate enough to meet a few. Have you looked at Julia Morton's book "Fruit's of Warm Climates"? I purchased this book direct from Julia in 1994 for $75. She was an amazing person!

It sure seems like more & more folks are growing Maninis and that doesn't even count the members that don't post.

Maybe it'll be Rare not to have a Manini.

Who has a source to buy these inexpensively? It is interesting how this topic bubbles up every few years.

As we have learned from the scientific community, tissue culture isn't the best means of propagation for Manini....The only way to get a true Aeae (Manini) into a collection today is to spend the money....not going to be common in many collections in this economy...not today at least
