![]() Yes, if the barrel or dike was constructed of Eucalyptus wood.
The photo is of a banana growing in the middle of a river that floods every time it rains and the city planted rows of rainbow eucalyptus trees on both sides.

3 Stages of development, egg, larva, and adult. Weevils are extremely vulnerable during the larva stage. By killing during one stage of development the cycle of life can be controlled and or eliminated. Weevil larva will easily drown in water and that's why soaking an infested rhizome in water or flooding a field works.

![]() I thought I saw a banana in there but surprised the corm wouldn’t rot unless where it is it’s not under water all the time. On plants that are reach able spraying them hard with a hose kills off scale, mealy, mites. Aphids. So makes sense it would kill the larva stage of the weevil.
