M. Truly Tiny is Truly Tough
Anyone might know that N. California got hit by a massive arctic blast. The 4 night blast went like this: 29F, 27F, 25F 30F. I had used FreezePruf, but we now know it's a scam.
What surprised me was the Truly Tiny. I thought it was a cavendish type and thus not very hardy. It looked roasted but actually green was only 2 inches down!! And here is a picture from today. New growth!! And not just one the one, but all four of them.. I am going to plant a ton of these next year, I love them! |

Re: M. Truly Tiny is Truly Tough
Does anyone know if Musa Truly Tiny is an ornamental banana or
a fruiting banana? If it is an edible banana, it is wonderful. |
Re: M. Truly Tiny is Truly Tough
I think it is supposed to be fruiting but I have yet to confirm that. Mine have about an 18" pstem or so and I expect a flower soon :)
if it turns out to ornamental then that is fine too.. They are beautiful plants |
Re: M. Truly Tiny is Truly Tough
Would that plant be the same as little princess??? I see ebay sells them, but there height gets confused with" sdc " sometimes..... thanks....

Re: M. Truly Tiny is Truly Tough
I forgot about my sdc's on my front porch that nobody uses & I don't know how many freezes they went through? the tops were really brown so I top them and brought them inside & POW... they started to grow again..... mabe my favorite banana......but I like them all.

Re: M. Truly Tiny is Truly Tough
I heard they produce edible fruit too. Mine will be going into its 5th summer growing so I'm hoping for a flower.

Re: M. Truly Tiny is Truly Tough
I understand it is supposed to be an edible banana, but the name "Truly Tiny"
will not be real name and could just be a nick name. Does anyone know its academic or species name? |
Re: M. Truly Tiny is Truly Tough
Truly tiny was named after a nursery here in Boynton Beach called Truly Tropicals. It's a mutation of the brazilian bananna.
