Default M. dwarf namwah pearl flower/banana bunch?

Has anybody seen photos of these? I've seen this plant for quite a while, but it never seems to grow to full maturity, including a few plants I've had previously.

Thanks,
Carlos(tropicalkid in NC)

I still have mine, but as it is only about 8" tall at best, I don't think I'll be seeing a flower any time soon! I do hope to keep mine alive this year and see how it does. I can't remember what month I got mine in but I got it from FCastro. I haven't seen him on here in a while. Felix, are you still around, buddy???

LOL yes Taylor mine is still kicking. For a few months there i thought it was over for the little guy. But he held on and made it through a somewhat mild winter. Its about 10 inches tall now(5 inches tall last year) and pushing out new almost white leaves. I noticed that new leaves will turn a light green after a week or two. By far the slowest growing banana on earth. Like i have said before, i think it thinks its a cactus. I have it in a 15 gallon plastic container in filtered sunlight. During the winter it was exposed to high 40's to low 50's (F) Day time or morning temps. Covered when temps.were lower then 45F. I will post a pic soon. Soon as i can get my dam cam to work!!!

Mine croaked when it came in for the winter. My dad still has his that I bought him, but it looks pretty poor. It's still only about 6" tall. I remember Gabe saying they are a very weak TC and challenging to keep alive so I don't feel too bad. For those of you still have yours, thumbs up.

Maybe we should have a contest to see who can get theirs to flower first! Maybe that's a bit ambitious seeing as how we all seem to be doing good just to get them to survive. How about a contest to see who can get theirs to 18" tall first? Honor system would apply of course, though I suppose we could always post pics with a measuring tape or yard stick for proof. What would be a good prize?

I still have mine. It is only about 5” but it just put out a new leaf and looks ok. I learned my lesson after killing my first one and only water this one sparingly. It will be interesting to see how it does once I can get it outside.

So who still has one besides Sandy, Mark, and myself? 3 people isn't quite enough for a contest.

I can't believe mine's still alive at all. But sure, I'll go in on a contest with you. But I'll get my butt kicked for sure...in the spring we're so busy here that I don't even have time to eat, and no time to baby this namwah. If it survives spring, I might have a chance. I'll have to put a sold sign in it too or my hubby will sell it while I'm at the farmers market. That's what usually happens to my plants I want to keep!

Maybe someone should start using a cactus soil mix? Or use one of those root aireation pots.
I quit trying after number two died.

For a Namwah pearl flowering contest, based on the plant's growth rate, we could probably assign the task to our grandchildren...

I think I might try another one too. Maybe it needs some shade cloth and some fast draining inert planting media, and possibly a 18-20 hour light cycle. Maybe they would do well in a hydroponics system where they could be micro managed?

This will be an interesting contest. I won't do it...but it should be a "Whoever can keep it alive longest" Contest.

OR...the "Whoever screws up first" Contest.
