I'm curious as to how many of us are growing this one. I know Taylor is.
I can't believe how many pups this plant puts out! Has anyone here had one fruit? Thanks! |

Anna B,
I believe little prince and super dwf cavendish are the same thing. Stokes says the LP is a sport of the Novak cavendish. I have had one for a year now and put it in one of the pool plant areas as a centerpiece. And yes, it pups and pups. Have potted up seven so far and one of the older pups has pupped also. No bananas so far. Jon in San Diego says it will bunch and choke up if you don't check often. I pull the leaves away from the stalk starting with the oldest. Right up to the newest leaves until sure the new shoot is clear to sprout. SDC in pool area SDC pups Deutcher Schaeferhunt pup Last edited by bananimal : 11-23-2007 at 08:57 AM. Reason: add pics |

I have LP and SDC and I do believe there is difference.. I have seen SDC labeled as LP but there is a difference in the leaves and the size of mine..

I also have both LP and SDC , and yes, the leaves are quite different. The Novak's leaves look like LP, but the stem on my LP's are much "stockier".
I need to get the other LP pups separated soon! If they always pup like this I will soon have enough to line up on the sides of our driveway... ![]() |

Anna, Mine hasn't pupped yet. The original died and I got 2 replacements from Nate (ngsuperbum7) and they are the ones that haven't yet. One I bare-rooted (lol this should be interesting!) and the other is in its pot in the shop. Zac (ZacInNC) has a whole mat of it by the end of his growing season but all 8 or 9 died in winter. Good Luck and hope this helped in some way...

Taylor,
I got my SDC from Stokes -- it was, and still is, robust -- go for it. Had the entire family over for Thanksgiving, 25 + kids, and they loved the little bugger + pups. Dan |

I have lil prince. Its stocky. It had set a pup...then it mysterouisly dissapperard(or kidnapped?) I bought at lowes last year. I've dug it for Gh this year and have trimmed some of its leaves off as they we're turning.I heard on another forum about its 'lack' of blooms. They said lil princess was better.
