![]() I'm desiring to compile a list of banana varieties that produce extra large to large fruit. Could anybody help me out? Could you mention the:
1.) variety 2.) size of fruit (inches) 3.) number of fingers 4.) number of hands Thank you all so much!

![]() In addition to differences among varieties, parts 2-4 also depend on climate and growing conditions, so information from people growing bananas near you will probably be most representative of what you can expect.
The one I grow that makes the largest fruit in my yard is Monthan. 1. Monthan 2. 6-8" but very fat, averaging 300 g per fruit. 3. Around 100 4. Around 10 |

![]() Large as in weight or length?
Hua Moa are 5 to 9 inches in length and can weigh more than a pound. Usually you have a 25 lbs bunch with 25-35 fingers. It is often considered more of a plantain but I sell tons of it to people who eat them ripe and raw FHIA 17 are usually 7-9+ inches in length and larger fruit approach 200g. Bunches are large with 10+ hands being normal. 150 fingers on a 50 lbs bunch would be standard |

![]() From studies I've read, the Fhia-02 outperforms the Fhia-17 in the subtropics.

I did a quick review and I see in Brazil it did better than FHIA-17, but in South Africa it did much worse. Last edited by Nicolas Naranja : 09-10-2014 at 12:23 PM. Reason: Add info |

![]() Best wishes. Whether they will actually produce large fruit in zone 9 is another question. Typically we're talking about zone 12.
