Question LED grow light (reasonalby priced)

OOPS, sorry about the typo on the header!!!

Not sure where to post this, so I thought I would post it here and let the moderators/administrator earn their money and put this where it needs to go!!! LOL Just kidding guys!!! You know how I feel about the job you do.
Anyway, saw this link and the price and wanted to see what you all thought about it. I know LED grow lights have been discussed before, but at $40, the price is alot less than what they were. I know Richard explained the number of lights needed, but what about the other plants we all grow and love. Would this not be a better way to grow, I mean go!?!??! Input would be appreciated...

It probably wouldn't be very hard to build one. It would mostly be a matter of finding LED's of the right wavelength for a reasonable price. Ive often thought about building one.

Whatever, I agree, but by the time you get all the supplies, wouldn't it be cheaper, or as cheap, to purchase this unit????

Would just depend on the light. Theres not really much to them, at least doesn't have to be. The LED's, DC power supply, some resistors about 1 resistor per 2 LED's, LED PCB. Most of the stuff I know I can get locally not sure on prices but ill differently look into it.

What I'm talking about would be something like this,
12 Volt LED Grow Light Kit - HomeGrownLights.com

That's a nice set-up for $40. But for less money you can buy a bulb that fits in a conventional light socket and delivers more light in the same range; plus you can use it in any room in your house rather than squirrel your plants and their lights off in isolation!

Ott-Lite 17 Watt Plant Bulb

If instead you want to use 2' or 4' fluorescents in a greenhouse, this manufacturer also makes those. I paid $6 each for the 2' size last week in one of Fernie's favorite big box stores.

Hi ,they also have this light fixture for us that are in the aquarium hobby it is very exspensive,,,and the P.A.R is very weak compared to a metal halide,,In my personal opion I would still go with the metal halide wich is cheap and really not that much money to run,,plus your coverage area to light plants is much greater ,,unless you want to hang the light 2 inches from your plants than just go and get a $5.00 power compact light for your plants!
