Default Leaf problems

over the summer last year my dwarf red was growing at a crazy rate going from a TC size plant to well over 6 ft in a season. The problem was it was putting out rollers so fast they were not emerging fast enough and the bottom of the leaf was tearing. I never had this problem with anything else.. Fast forward to today I went and checked on my tanee in the greenhouse and it is growing much slower but doing the same thing. the leaf is almost out but the petiole is not and the leaf gets kind of stuck and tears the bottom.

what causes this and how can I fix it? I love a perfect leaf and I want to try and fix the issue. none of my other bananas have done this so far.

To be specific -- it's likely too much nitrogen in relation to other minerals.

For ornamental bananas grown in a pot, I'd use 20-6-16 at the rate of 1 tbsp./gallon of water, once per month.
