Here is a picture of my Ice Cream banana. For my education can one deduce a banana plants good health by looking at the color of the leaves. As an example, would dark green be a healthy leave than one that is say more of a yellow green?
My Goldfinger has much darker leaves than my Ice cream or apple banana. Randy

Usually younger leaves tend to be a lighter green. Once those leaves get older, they will get darker.

What threw me off is how quick the Goldfinger leaves turn dark green compared to how long it takes for the blue java and the apple to change color.
I appreciate the reply.

Mine do that when they've had a lot of fertilizer. Or when anything causes them to grow really rapidly. I wouldn't worry too much, but if they are coming out really pale, almost white, it might indicate a micronutrient deficiency.
BTW, it's probably not Blue Java. Hard to tell at this stage but it looks much more like "Namwah", which is sold as Ice Cream in much of the US. |

Namwah, would it then be a dwarf?
Seems like that is suppose to be a bit more cold hardy anyway. From the post on a Namwah. I think that would be fine but I do want a blue java if this is the wrong plant. Thanks for the reply. Randy

Could be, but too early to tell. If it was sold as Ice Cream, more likely that it is "tall Namwah", since that's what seems to be sold in the US these days as "Ice Cream" most of the time.

I would have thought tissue culture plants would be what they said it would be but I guess if no one has the tissue. well then . . .
I am so new to bananas that the fun is seeing what happens next. Thanks again. Randy
