A kid in a candy store at Going Bananas!
 

On May 3, 2017, I went to Going Bananas located in Homestead, Florida and I purchased a couple of 'nana varieties!....Don and Katie, are the owners of Going Bananas, at nursery dedicated most to 'nana varieties!...I have been there a couple of times!....Every time I go there, Don always forgot about me!....LOL....

Don is an exceptional human being!...A very intellectual and a calm person!....Same as Don's wife, Katie!...Katie most of the time, manages the nursery/business customer service!....Very honest and good people!....

Don mentioned that Gabe (Gabe15) is one of the most acknowledgeable persons of the world about 'nanas, along with Mrs. Angela Kepler (from the book World Of Bananas In Hawaii)....Don and Gabe are very good friends!....

I think if I ever visit Florida again, Going Bananas will be a stop on my tour. Thanks for posting all the great pictures and for sharing your experiences.

Awesome Hector! I want to visit very badly. Place looks awesome! You can tell they care about bananas and put lots of time and care into theirs. I've never heard a bad thing said about them. Excellent nursery to order from! You will get exctally what you ordered. Other than other members they have the real Blue Java Ice Cream banana. Most other nurseries sell Blue Java Ice Cream And send you a tall Namwah.

Hector, great photos. I was just there the Friday before you (April 28th) but I never get to take the tour because we (my wife and I) always get there in the last half hour of business.:ha:

It was our second time to Going Bananas and both times it's just been Katie. But I did get to meet Don in March when he had a booth at the Leu Garden plant sale. I didn't pick up anything in March but I got to ask him if they were going to have Veinte Cohol as they were no longer on the list. He said that they might have some ready in two months.

So when Katie asked what I was looking for I asked her if they had any VC's ready and she told me they weren't going to sell the VC anymore. :2141: But she called up Don to check if they had any and where they might be. Turns out there were a few in the second shade house (TC stage 1) and returned with two little guys in hand for me to choose from.

While I wasn't able to find want I wanted in March, this time I got two, the Veinte Cohol and a Siam Ruby. :0519:

Even I have been there many times, every time I go to Going Bananas is a very pleasant experience!....As I mentioned, I feel like a "kid in a candy store!".....LOL.....



Andy, I brought home two 'nana varieties!...Mysore and FHIA-2 "Mona Lisa!"......The Banana Growing Gang is getting stronger!:08:
