A friend is a professor of agriculture at Khonkaen University. He said he would find seed of this papaya variety for me. I hate to gloat, but wow! He also says he has a black banana of some kind; does this ring any bells with the other nannerheads?

Someone PM'd me re this thread that they're coming to Thailand soon. I was in the process of replying, when everything blew up. My PM gone, his PM gone. I looked in my list of PMs and didn't see it, although I sometimes suffer a temporary blindness when looking for things. Did I imagine it? If not, could my correspondent please resend that PM or PM me the main points again, and I will, if all goes according to plan, reply.
