Just moved bananas

I just moved all of my bananas that are in pots on the east side of my house. They have sun from 9 am till sunset. I also plan to put clear plastics over them and Christmas lights. I hope that they'll be OK this Winter. The ones planted on the ground will stay put. I am also leaving the dried leaves on them perhaps even so little will protect the P-stem from the cold.

From the Inside Looking out

Looks pretty from inside now, Benny, but I can't say I'd enjoy looking at my brown bananas all winter! My potted bananas will be coming indoors tomorrow as I'm about done putting up my light system.

Good luck, Benny!

Harvey:
Good for you that you have room indoors for your bananas. My wife won't let me do it. Besides I don't have room for all of them indoors and I don't want to pay for the extra electricity for them.
What I am doing is to do it all "Au Natural". I'll let it all nature takes its course. I will do it as cheap as I can.
That place is where the sun shines almost all day.
I will not let my bananas get brown if I can help it. I have a second option if the tempt gets too cold here. But I want my bananas grow even during the Winter time. And stay green. That's why almost all of my bananas are dwarf.
Oh, I'd say my bananas are in good hands. They will be all right.
This forum is giving me many ideas how I will take care of them. With improvements in my part.
Give me some pointers how you will take care of your bananas Harvey.
Take care.

Benny

Well, Benny, don't drool too bad but I do have a bit of an easier time as I am probably the only one you will ever hear of in your entire life that gets natural gas for free. While I don't get the royalties from the natural gas that is being taken from wells on my farm, the old lease does give me the rights to free natural gas for my residential "lights and stoves". I have a detached structure that I use as my shop that stays heated. However, it doesn't have enough light so I am putting up a 1,000w metal halide light having from a rail that will move it back and forth 9'. None of my bananas are in pots as big as yours. The bigger ones are in the ground and will get brown this winter, I'm sure. But I have many in 5 gallon pots and a few 15 gallon pots and I'm just hoping that they can get to a pretty good size by late March or early April when I can plat them outside. I imagine my banana room will get pretty crowded by next spring! I'm thinking I can take pups next summer or fall and put them in pots and do the same thing and see what others can make it on their own outside. Hopefully, we won't have the low temperatures (20F) like we had this past winter. My light will probably cost me $50/month to run, but I may cut it back as the room does get some sun in the morning. I'm hoping that my wife will think it is worth it if I grow 1 tomato plant and some basil to keep her happy. :)

I still have to think of some ways to keep my wife happy. Diamond , maybe (lol).
But she definitely says no to my bananas. She's so afraid of earthworms, no kidding. So any soil that I bring inside is a no-no. That's why my backyard is all mine.
Yes, you are lucky to have a free natural gas for free. I've never heard of that one.
I bought my house in 1984 and in the contract it states that I am not the owner of any minerals discover in my property now and in the future.

That's gonna 'kill' my wife.
She is a mail carrier and whenever it rains she skips the mail box that have worms crawling on the ground.
