Default Just got 4 banana Plants. Should I start in a pot or in the ground?

I recently got 4 plants. 2 Blue Java and 2 Saba. One Blue Java I got a few weeks ago, and the other 3 (which look way bigger, and healthier) I just got today from a different location.

The first Java is in a pot, and is finally starting to grow a little after a few weeks of limited and disappointing growth.

My question is should I plant these three new ones in big pots i specifically bought for that purpose, or should I put them directly in the ground.

If I place them in pots, exactly when should I put them in the ground. Sorry if this question seems basic. This is my first ever attempt with banana plants!

I love in ZONE 9B (Winter Haven, Florida).

Thanks!

Sounds as if you have a good start to a nice banana garden.

I your zone it seems to be personal preference and what your comfortable with.
Some folks grow the small tender plants out in a pot and then plant in a well amended forever home.
And some folks can't wait and place them right in the ground.

Me, I will plant in a pot and then heal the plant in part sun till it is sorted out and then introduce it to the jungle.

Thanks, have given away a bunch of pups over the years. I guess I just need to be careful spreading herbicides because I don't want to kill everything, just specific areas.

Trees are an important part of our life. The more tree we plant, the better the living will be.

I would plant them in their permanent location now, (depending on the hurricane's direction) there is no point in putting them into pots and then transplanting at a later date.
Other members will have more advice for you

you probably will have a better chance of surviving if you plant them now

plus if you put them in the ground the growth rate will probably much, much better in the ground. but I would shade them with 50% shade cloth.

this is what I did with a maolis in march. the leave are now over my head.

put 2 in pots and planted them in july and they are now in the ground maybe a bit better than a foot tall.
