Default The infamous Florida Hill's Nursery

Well, they've got what I want , (The Sumantra X Cross ), and I can't seem to find it elsewhere, except for one seller on Amazon who only ships them in multiples(You can't buy just one) for more than I want to pay.

The price on FH is really good meanwhile.

However, I've read about alot of alarming experiences with this company.

It's not helping that I e-mailed them last night to ask a couple of questions and the e-mail bounced back

A part of me wants to just take the gamble, but I really really hate dealing with unreachable companies >_>

Has anyone had any recent experieces with them?

Thanks

called several numbers and sent emails to multiple accounts they list online.. NOT 1 answer, call back or reply..
after several orders, i've had about a 50% rate with them for quality of plants/correct varieties received.
use paypal if you want to have a little protection as its a decent venue of recourse if you know you got the wrong stuff or it comes dead/poor quality.

A year ago, I tried to ask questions 4 or 5 different times. No response. Never gotten anything from them tho.

Just get from Going Bananas, (Welcome to Going Bananas of Homestead, Florida!), might be a little bit higher price, but you get what you pay for, and if you are set on getting this variety (which I must say is
a nice looking plant, but nearly useless for fruit normally), then you might as well pay little bit more up front rather than buy the wrong thing or something of poor quality multiple times which will end up costing more in the end.

If there were enough interest I'd carry them, but so far not much.

Also stay away from FHN, that guy is a lying, stealing thief, will ship you whatever and tell you it's what you ordered.

PLUS he's been banned from this board for life.

Thanks every one for your replies!

Yyy-iikes. I'm definitly not going to take my chances after reading these....Thank you, you guys very likely saved me time money and hassle--and quite possibly a mislabled banana even if something did show up.

My interest in the Sumantra x Cross is due to the varigated leaves plus (supposedly?) edible fruit? Or is the latter a snake oil pitch?

I love the leaves of Zebrina --but was dissapointed that its fruit are more or less inedible.

Which is actually a bit silly of me, being that I am currently in the Midwest with little to no chance of getting fruit. (But of course I will *try*. I know. Beginner's naive optimism )

Just another reason to add of many why I can't wait to get back to my birthplace of South Florida someday soon!
