Check out the bloom on this Dwarf Orinoco, it didn't seem to care that the pre-flag hadn't even pushed all the way out yet:
I think it happened because I had recently removed several large pups from the mat, which probably caused the pre-flag to get stuck.

Some varieties are very sensitive to pup removal near flowering and others seem unfazed. Any disturbance of the root mat is a stress factor and can cause growth irregularities and if it occurs close to flowering my affect fruit size and quantity. Cavendish family type seem particularly sensitive.
