![]() Hello everyone,
I have a impatient noob question. (sorry to all those rolling their eyes) I bought a small sword sucker (+/- 1' tall) with corm and little to no roots about a month ago. I put it in a raised bed and have been trying to keep an eye on it. So far no growth. I've dug carefully around it to see if anything is happening subsurface. Upon inspection I found one root with no new sucker growth. A couple of the outside leaves of the original sword have gotten soft, but the middle appears to be still firm. Am I doing something wrong? How long do I need to wait for this thing to get going? Thank you. ![]() |

![]() You need to keep the pup in barely moist soil till it starts to grow. Never keep it wet in the establishing period. That way you avoid the only pup killer:rot!
Pups start growing in about a month in hot weather or much more time,if they dont rot,in cooler weather.

![]() Wow. Thank you. That gives me some perspective. I didn't think was going to be that long. I think I'll put it in a pot to help control the moisture. I live in southwest Florida and we are starting to get into our rainy season. Any additional thoughts would be appreciated. I've got a lot to learn. Thank you.
