My price per pup is $5 or less even if the owner says they know what they have. Yeah, right. I've budgeted $30 for this venture and have contacted 2 advertisers; haven't heard back yet. 1 supposedly knows what he's growing; we'll see. He does have bananas on site which means I can take pictures. I have a feeling they're all Orinicos (can get that free), Namwahs (have a dwarf) or DCs (have 1 with 5 pups) but who knows?

Probably. And $30 is my top limit; getting a penny out of me is tough. But I'm itching for plants and Walmart only sells DCs...

What is CL? There are several people on here who have legitimate nurseries and are involved on the bulletin board.

Craigslist. Yes, I know there are people with legitimate nurseries; I am not in a place just now to do more than play a little. Soon I hope to have space to get serious. Until then I get a lot of donations from gardeners and putter around with propagation to keep me occupied. Who knew you could root lemon grass in water? I didn't. I do now.

CL works pretty good. Use their e-mail option for replies and only respond to those who seem serious. If you have good pictures and can support what you're selling, you can make money selling spares there. (You could probably sell fruit, also.) Not all buyers are flakes though we do like a bargain. (For me a bargain is knowing what I'm buying and the price is less than a pup/plant with shipping.) Don't lead people on! A few months ago I exchanged 10+ e-mails with a local woman selling unknowns who kept telling me she wouldn't give me her address even after she had my phone number and address! I finally gave up. I have a feeling her yard is now filled with pups...

Why do people in GA advertise in Jacksonville? Heard back from the guy with the potentially "best stuff" but he's miles away. If I still had my Geo 2 seater, I might bite but this S-10 piece of trash I own now sucks gas. My quest for $5 "mysteries" isn't looking good. Oh, well...I really don't need plants...I just want.

For $30 you probably get 3 bananas and you don't need to drive anywhere. They're small but grow fast

Maybe explaining me will help. Female who hates shopping clothes; I wear make up only when I want to confuse peeps who think they know me. NOT! I'm a grocery freak. Costa Rica, Virgin Islands and any US state I visit. Love bulk foods like I found in Ohio (Amish country). Have a killer sourdough starter I developed that's traveled with me--a lot. She rocks! Not trying to reinvent the wheel--just enjoying the ride. If and when I get serious about bananas or anything horticultural again, I'll be more careful. Until then? Je vais laisser la vie suivre et vivre avec les conséquences. Or something like that.
