If you have a Pisang Ceylon, I'd love to hear from you...
If you have a Pisang Ceylon, I'd love to know your experience with how sturdy the plant is (vs. having to prop)?
We are considering a Pisang Ceylon, but I have run into contradictory info. as to just HOW tolerant of wind this plant is? We live on a hill and do catch the wind. See pic of location... the round border is just under 7' diameter & Burr Oak tree nearby is approx. 20' tall (depth in pic isn't great-circle border is off to the back more than appears). So, plant will be exposed. I am not wanting have to prop. Would the Pisang Ceylon be fine ...or are most of you having to prop? Would love to know your experience if you have a PC. Thanks!

When they fruit, nearly all bananas grown in the subtropics need to be propped.
Bananas grown in the open with breezes over 3 knots will have a lot of torn leaves. Protecting your plant from winter cold in your USDA cold hardiness zone will be a significant effort.

Thanks for replying. Yes, we've had the torn leaves. But our Orinocos have not ever had to be propped... an they got tall. Just don't know to what degree the Pisang Ceylon is different (than say the Orinoco) with regards to wind tolerance.
Would love to hear from any others with PC if they have had to prop?

I have seen it's close cousin Mysore grown without propping around the Belle Glade area. I have had my Pisang Klotek, which is a type of mysore topple in the wind.

Mine does fine in the wind, as well as anything that tall, but it hasn't fruited yet. I'm guessing it's going to need propping when it fruits. It is indistinguishable (to me) in morphology from Pisang Klotek, which I had to prop the one time mine has fruited, and Momoese says usually needs to be propped when it has a bunch. I have seen photos of Pisang Ceylan with a filled bunch in the tropics and no props, for what that's worth.
In short, I don't think wind will be a problem, but when it fruits it'll probably need to be propped.
