![]() Hi folks,
Wanted to post a follow-up from June. I went away for a week and when I got back I noticed the banana had produced a leaf that was half the size of the others. It has since raised a flag leaf thats about 12in long and quite wide at the base, but I cannot see the flower yet. Here is the flag ready to pop! Below is the (before) pic from June. Notice the 'pup' to the right-side of the parent plant. When I took this pic the pup was just over 7ft of pstem and the parent was over 10ft. Here is the (after) pic ready to flower! Notice how much the 'pup' to the right-side has grown since June. The leaves are just at the upper porch roof. It is hard to tell from the camera angle, but the 'pup' is well over 11ft of pstem now. I couldn't get a pic of the parent plant's height, but it is between 14-15ft pstem and the leaves are above the second story roof. Here is a link from my June 09 post Ice Cream 10ft in 11 months. Pics! Last edited by proletariatcsp : 08-05-2009 at 05:14 PM. |

![]() Sure don't need any more IC pups but it appears you're growing IC's in my size-range. Thanx for a look at the Flag-leaf! Now I'll know what to watch for. Oh, and hardiest congratulations!

![]() Picture Update on Blue Java. The above pics are from 8/5/09, just four days ago and the flower is on flying out! Bare in mind, this is my first banana and my first flower so I really don't know how long it takes to grow.
Here is the pic from 8/5 I would like to know if you guys think the flower looks like Ice Cream 'Blue Java?' I bought it as Ice Cream, and now that it has flowered I would like to know before I start the contest. Here is a close-up pic from today, 8/9 And finally, this is a picture from a good distance. You'll have to look closely to see the flower in there. Thanks for your opinions, and be sure to look for the contest coming soon. |

![]() That's one beautiful flower. And even the 13 months is an excellent time. I've read about IC plants fruiting on many occasions only after the 18th month.
I hope to see some bunch pics soon. ![]()
