Normally I would be excited with a flag leaf but with frost due to hit in December, a bloom is the last thing I need.

At this point, what should I do? I've never attempted to overwinter a bloom and the P-stem very high, probably 12-13'. Freezepruf? Wrap it? I guess even if it stops growing soon, I will have only a bloom first thing out which isn't good either.. so I can use freezepruf to keep the leafs, but ugh what a pain. As noted in my signature, it doesn't get much below 30 here, but that's still enough to roast the plant. Thanks in advance

I think using freezpruf on the leaves and wrap the trunk with burlap would be a good idea.

Wish I could help. One of my Ice Creams had a late flag leaf but the wind blew it over (least I saved the pups). Did hear some people talkin about late flowers and what to do. That was in another thread. Think Bananas.org should have a new section devoted to late flowering bananas. Good luck !

I think mine is getting ready to send up the flag leaf as well. I noticed yesterday that the last leaf that emerged is only about 3-4 feet long. The flag ususally follows that. Mid-November...I don't see viable fruit coming from this one.

Well I'd tell you I'd have that plant as my only indoor plant for the winter. I do have other's but you get the drift. I might have a lil room to spare.. I hope I have that problem down the road with my Ice Cream's.. Personally in place I'd put a 40 ft heat tape on it wrapped from top to bottom so the fruit can get growing come spring. Good Luck :^)
