Default I have had a certain banana plant strain

For well over 30 years. Actually most people I know in OKlahoma grow this banana plant. They get very tall and very heavy send out tons of pups and when they do produce fruit its pretty small maybe 5 inches or so. Not many on the stalk either but that could be because of our growing season too. I dont really have any pics of them any more. Last year they did not grow well and I hope I did get them to winter over. I usually just dig them up hack off the leaves and stand them in the corner in the utility room and wait for spring. My old greenhouse was pretty big The top is 13 foot from the ground. The first year I had it I planted one of these in the ground right by my display area. It was in the fall almost winter. The banana started growing and I thought nothing of it. Well The leaf curled up is major strong it punched a a hole through double poly my dad was mad as could be he had just paid for this greenhouse and the poly, It is a 30foot by 96 foot greenhouse,. He cut the top off of my banana and made me dig it up.

What you describe sounds like an 'Apple' banana - tall with small fruit. Although, it could also be a Saba, but the fruit is fatter, and slower to ripen.

Thanks the bottom 2 are probably the right one. The fruit looks about right. I am not sure how long I have been growing these but it was before I bought this house. so more than 30 years. I also have a grove of hardy ones my cousin gave me. They have been planted outside for about 3 years and have never had any fruit at all.

I would agree with Dean and Tony - Orinoco. "Most people" in Oklahoma are not going to have an Apple banana or a Saba as a common banana.
