I did a stupid thing with my 1st banana purchase. What to do now.
I bought 3 Dwarf Cavendish banana plants at Walmart about 3 mo ago, before I knew ANYTHIN about Bananas. Well I planted these tiny saplings about 18" apart. Well you know what they look like now,..a bit crowded. LOL
Should I dig them up and plant them at a reasonable distance apart? Will I kill them? Stunt their growth? Thanks, --Rick |

You can dig a couple up and move them. They will be somewhat unhappy for a while, but you are not very likely to kill them. If you weather is cooling off, they may not fully recover till next spring. Just be patient and do not over water till they show some new growth.

I agree with pitangadiego.Bananas are a bit resistant to stress when it comes to transplanting them. You should move them apart. You will notice a bit of stunting in the growth after you have moved them, but they'll recover after a couple days.By the way, I will be selling a pup of a M. novak super dwarf.it is the one with a pink-red pseudostem and blotches of red on the leaves. You can see a picture of the mom plant at my gallery.
