Exclamation Hurricane Michael

It looks like I'm almost in the direct path of Michael. The eye should pass about 30 to 40 miles to the West of me. This puts me on the Northeast & East side of the storm. ... Currently the Cat. 4 storm is predicted to still be a hurricane when it crosses into Georgia. Most storm lose their strength when their get on land. The resent storm Florence did so in N & S Carolina. .... A rare few had 100 mph winds into my area.

I know Fla panhandle ares (Panama City and Pensacola) are taking a beating now. ... How are you guys doing down there? ...

I know this is a banana forum section, but we will get to that later, ... if any survives the [s]110]/s] 145 mph + winds (40 minutes ago)!

150 MPH winds! ... near Cat. 5 storm. Tyndall Air Force Base & area appears to be a direct hit and Panama City on the western eye wall. ... This is BAD for the panhandle.

Not much of anything here in Pensacola. Intermittent sprinkle accompanied by sporadic light wind for the north/northeast. I guess it will peak between 1 pm and 3 pm central time for us.

Port St. Joe and Apalachicola is in big time trouble. Probably wipe them out. Panama City obviously in the center.

I'm 30 miles NW of Cedar Key. My banana trees are getting a work out. Windy here but nothing like they are getting in Pensacola now as the eye wall comes in shore. More rain bands will be coming through this afternoon. Can do without the tornado warnings! Stay safe.

Just lost a big 13.5' namwa in a big sustained gust. Crashed down into the pool. I pulled it off the pool deck and pushed it onto the grass. This one had put out a flag leaf this week and was unsupported. It snapped clean off at the pstem/corn intersection.

Prayers and thoughts, yall! Harvey went directly over me last year. My family and I lost all. House and belongings, etc. I know the feeling. Hang tough and pray, but you will get through it.

Rain is blowing at near 30 deg to horz. ....My Red's mat has blown over. I can stand these back up later. I laid my potted plants on their side (Paggi, VC, Hua Moa, FHia-18, & Williams). ... Put the ducks back in their pen. ... Got soaking wet myself.

The worst is yet to come, but still won't be like the coast. I expect may be 70 mph winds and about 24 to 48 hour without power from the grid. I have a gen set ready to go.

Wind gust at 62 mph at 4:45 pm. My power went out at 4:10pm and now on generator power.

I see several of my nana plants have broken in the top just under the leaves. 3 or 4 weeks ago I defoliated the plants levying the top 3 or 4 leaves to reduce wind damage from any storms.

At the speed I see the storm moving on the tracking maps I'll be on the back side of the winds in another few hours.

My prayers and thoughts for all of you. I'm grateful that all of us in SE Florida have been spared this year - so far. In the 13 years I've lived here we have had close calls. Our houses meet code for big winds and when Irma came thru we lost some roof shingles and a few naners were knocked flat.

But that was it. Every time the kocal weather guy said possible embedded tornado all of us and the 3 dogs hid on the floor of a central closet. All in all I still wouldn't give up S Fla for anything!!!

I'm back. I lost phone & DSL service before day light Thursday morning. The backup battery at the pairgain box.died and Windstream was too lazy to replace/recharge it. The phone & DSL came back on about 7:00 pm tonight and the power about 1 1/2 later.

My small Banana patch suffered some broken pstems and several plants blew over.

This is the small patch. Sorry about the sun glare.

A few plants in pots, I had already laid over on their sides. They are in good shape. ... VC FHIA-18, Williams, Paggi, and Hua Moa

The Large patch did GREAT due to a close by wooded area that blocked the winds. I don't see any broken leaves, even.
