The first finger is often huge, but most are similarly sized. The bottom hand(s) can be small. Perhaps only 4" long.

Nick --- I remember from one of the times I brought the rare fruit club members down they took home 7 and 8 hand HM bunches with huge fingers on at least 6 hands. They had to weigh well over 30 lbs. I think I remember you saying that 5 acre plot was premium grade muck soil.

Yeah, that stuff was great. It was a mixture of muck, clay and silt. If it got wet it would stick to your tires. The pH was like 6.8 and after a long history of vegetable farming, it was very rich. The soil that I am farming now is a mixture of sand, muck and marl. The pH is around 8.0 and prior to me the land had been in pasture. In the sandier areas I actually have to put out nitrogen.

If I was growing for my own likes, I don't know if I'd have any. But they sell for $0.50/finger.

nick that neighbor came back today asking "what the heck do I with them again ? '

I told him cookie sheet, tin foil, oven, .350 -25 mins or until they pop out of the skin.

My average hm bunch this year was 10 fingers.
Now if I can just learn to cut them BEFORE they split !

That is retail at the farmers market. However, they did wholesale for $30/40lbs box on the wholesale market when Maya was still exporting.

If a Hua Moa averages 10.7 oz the retail and wholesale prices would be identical.

That is a good sized flower. The Boriquamite did a good job!!! The corms came from Nicks grove. Wouldn't be surprised if it had 9 to 11 good hands.

I am not too good at the price discovery thing. I just come up with a price and sell as much as I can. 50 cents sounded reasonable, and I had a lot of buyers at that price. I used to sell 3 boxes/week to a person that had a produce buyers club. I'd sell her a 40lbs box for $30 and I think there were usually only 48 fingers in a box. She bought a lot of different things for her customers from bananas to snap beans to kale. I think they paid her about $25/week for a box of fresh local produce.

Exactly...snitches get stitches means that someone who rats on you is likely to end up in the hospital getting stitched back together.
