Re: How tall can an Orinoco banana plant get?
My mother and her neighbor have a bunch of Orinoco. They get to 16+ ft easily!
They can get huge with some giant leaves! Personally I like huge banana plants though

Re: How tall can an Orinoco banana plant get?
There are also Dwarf Orinoco that are supposed to "only" get to 6-10 feet tall
Maybe you could look into those if you're interested. I might try one someday myself |

I honestly didn’t know that there is a dwarf variety of Orinoco! How about that! Now I might just have to get one! Thanks for letting me know about that! I like the idea of a shorter banana plant that might not take as long to fruit! Thanks again!

Re: How tall can an Orinoco banana plant get?
My Tall Orinoco is about 9 or 10 feet trunk fruiting now (first generation). Then again I have seen 20+ foot Orinoco in a field. Lol

Re: How tall can an Orinoco banana plant get?
Really! Wow! By the way ! Some have been more than 20’ tall! Holy 💩! Well, I wonder if mine could fruit at that size as yours did. Otherwise I don’t know how I can bring it indoors over winter if it’s suppose to be that TALL! Thanks as always “Joe Joe”!

Hey Cincinnana! I’m so glad to find out when I could expect a flower on my Orinoco! It was very kind of you to tell me that! I truly appreciate both the replies & helpful information!

Re: How tall can an Orinoco banana plant get?
Expect for OP's zone.....2-5+- years ..... for inedible fruit.
Frost to frost is 160 -+ possible growing days.....not enough for a banana plant to do much. Last edited by cincinnana : 04-01-2021 at 07:00 PM. |
