How to suspend flowering till next spring??

A flag leaf of a banana planted in the ground is about to emerge in this
delicate season. To dig up and store in some place would be an idea if
it would be dormant during the winter without starting to flower although
there is another problem of the size of the plant about 12ft or so.

Does anyone know some medicine or something to delay or suspend flowering
or some practical methods to do this? Otherwise only way to do is to enjoy
and admire its flowring and that's all. That is to pity to accept it.

The only thing you could do is build a structure around it to keep it warm, at least from freezing. If you dig it up, you will certainly not be getting any fruit.

It it what it is, and you will not stop it. Do what Gabe said. Some plastic pipe, some plastic, some duct btape, and a little heat (lightbulb, or ?) are the cheapest way to go.

What about a borderline area like where I live? I've got 2 flowers out (just starting to open) and December is only a month away... I haven't had frost since 2009, but there is no guarantee of what will happen this winter.

I would build something, but my Ice Cream p-stems are probably around 15'... pretty difficult to make a structure but I guess I should at least attempt it. If the fruit doesn't open up all the way, will it finish in February when it warms up? or is my only chance it keep it heated throughout the winter?

This is a great idea, and inexpensive too. For a quick idea from someone else doing something similar, check out how BB73's is looking over in Greece.

After considering several ideas, the only way that seems to be practical
and realistic would be to cover the whole bunch of the flower by a large
plastic bag or sheet.
In this case, however, the biggest problem is its long petioles and big leaves
and these things shall have to be cut off.

Ｎｏｗ　the question is whether or not the flower bud can survive throughout
the winter and keep growing in the post winter season without the petioles
and the leaves. I have heard that it is neccessary for the bud at least 4 or
5 leaves to sustain its growth.

Please tell me your opinions.
