Default How to plant and take care of a corm no roots

Hi all
I have purchased a banana ta ne variegated as it was shipped in from abroad I received it with no roots and the stem cut back to about 10 inches i am not sure the best way to go about planting this should i wait until spring we are just coming into winter here in the uk but the banana will be in a heated conservatory if i do plant now do i water a bit and keep on the dry side until it starts to regrow really dont want to lose this as it was a gift Thankyou for any advise that anyone has

I would plant it semi dry in a loose rich medium. Tanee voracious so i would be surprised if you lost it

Thankyou do you know how long it will take to start to grow i know they say sometimes it can take a while to get going again.

They make roots before shooting so it can be a wait.

Thankyou I think it might not do much till spring now but fingers crossed i see some growth before then.

This is not generic info. This is exactly how I do mine personally! The main thing is warmth! You need a heat mat or some form of heat! Also the most common way people kill them is overwatering! So water once every 2 weeks or so max until you get growth! Remember the corm is not using water if it isn’t actively growing! Good luck.

Soil warmth is important. That will stimulate new roots.
