Years and years ago i experimented with my first bananas I think they were called Red blood bananas and Zebrina. Looks like a zebra I guess. Got them at home depot.They did really well near the pool. I don't have these anymore but since moving in with my boyfriend a couple years ago i have been enjoying these gigantic banana trees that my boyfriend had bought in Florida along with palm trees to put around his pool about 13 years ago.Not sure what they are but guessing musa basjoo? Would love for someone to look at my gallery and verify that for me. This year i got so excited seeing fruit and or more of a long stem and looked like a flower instead of a banana so in August i decided to dissect one and it still didnt look like bananas and still was very hard feeling but had so many seeds. Now it is losing its pedals and the plant has been shooting out so many pups even through concrete pavers and creeping through small gaps in our tiki bar. It seems to behave like some bamboo i used to have around my pool. Very aggressive and still growing even though leaves are Browning from weather. So second question is we are Selling our home and most everything in it to travel and live out of our suitcases for a while. My significant other loves to gamble in Vegas. So people keep asking if i want to sell these pups or moms too. Is this even the time of year for them to survive transplanting? I have about 20 pups ranging in size from 1' to almost 6'. Then the moms look to be about 13'.

So will they be ok to dig up now? And what kind of a banana tree does anyone think i have?

Latest here in coastal 8b NC I have planted in late October and never had issues. Even with a bad winter. Your weather is pretty much the same as ours so I would say it's a gamble. Explain that to them, if they planted somewhere that stays dry and mulched the corm should be fine. But original plant would die mostly.
