Well one question. i was wondering if i bought a basjoo for my Yard in newfoundland will it survive the winter.? or can storing them be helpful?

Hello MC,

I keep Musa basjoo in the ground year round here and we get temps to -15F.
If you mulch well and try and keep them dry you should be fine. They will have the pseudostem die back, but they will live. You can dig them up for larger plants next year too.

Well thats great! I'll need to get some seeds from someone since bananas are hardly sold here.

Hey Wayne,
In another post I read that Basjoo seeds are rare to come by, and that you should just try to buy a corm from someone. Do you have any nurserys in Newfoundland? What about nurserys here with Phytosanitary Certificates or whatever? Or just a kind person with a mat of it...
