Cold Help! My temps at night are real low...

Hey! I live in Northeastern Ohio & b/c of that I have to dig up and bring the plants back in my home for winter. Now normally I would dig up the plants in Oct but my temps over night are getting very cold already. For the next week the temperature will go down to 40 degrees maybe even 38 degrees over night. I know that technically that’s not freezing but still pretty cold for frost tender plants. Will the plants be okay for the this week? Do I have to dig them all up already? I think next week the temps at night will be back in the 50’s again over night. Thanks for any help!

I usually don’t dig them up until October. I was just shocked to find we’re getting low temps a little sooner than I expected! I was afraid that the plants I have would all die off. I was hoping to not have to take them in already. I figured that it would take me longer to dig them all up than the low temps would last!

Dearly Depotted, I love your user name

Just bring em in. That's what I've been doing. Better safe than: *dang it*!!

I'm also in the midwest...And mother nature thought it would be wonderful to dump rain on us all day/night last week for like 5 or 6 days straight. And it was cold!

Getting 40s here again at night too soon . -______-

Thanks! I thought it was a brilliant & cute name myself! Better safe than dang it! I love it! It was funny! Oh, sorry to hear about all that rain for that many days in a row! Yucky! Here in Ohio we barely got any rain this summer. Then all of a sudden one day a while back we got torrential down pour! It was like we got a whole summer’s worth of rain in 1 day! Cute picture of your cat!

The weather sure has been wonky this year.

Lol thanks re the pic of my cat. It actually has a bit of a funny story behind it--

I was sitting on the other side of that plant(banana plant of course) with my tablet and ear buds in, and he suddenly started to hunt the wire of my earbuds. He kept peeking/glaring and swiping at me/the wires through the banana plant. Wild cat in the jungle
