My ice cream put out a short leaf in January. A period of 30ish degree weather occurred shortly thereafter and nothing happened. Most of the leaves have died off but a new one is starting to emerge. Will this produce another short leaf in the coming months or not? or should I chop it to the ground and focus on the pups? Bad, bad timing.....

Good morning SHKM,
![]() Do not trim it back yet!!! The weather here in Florida is warming and if the plant is putting out new growth, let it. Don't shock it now. It may be hard to do, but fertilize now and water. Don't trim it back till May, and don't cut it down!! As long as the growing "heart" survives you may still get bananas this year! Best wishes |
