![]() Hi J, it is possible if;
1. The corm is healthy. 2. The growing condition is right. Incident # 1 : I was digging up a corm of the Musa violascens in the jungle and accidentally hacked off a small block of approx just 2 x 2 x 3 in. I kept it in a very small pot and after 3 mths, a new shoot came up. Incident # 2 : Another incident was similar with a Pisang Abu. A flake of the top of the corm came off with a size of only 1 in thick and 2 x 4 in surface just like an iPod. I didn't want to throw it away and left it on the top of a pot under full sun. It was not even buried in soil. It got wet every time I watered that pot. A shoot came up after 2 mths. 'Naners are the most amazing plant I have seen! ![]() |

![]() Yes, been there done that and it works providing there are eyes like on a potato. This usually happens when you cut down a plant after harvesting it. The corm will grow eyes all over it within a few months. At that point you can cut the corm into several chunks, let the chunks with eyes dry/scab a bit and then pot them. It's not the ideal way of propagating but it does work.
