Has anybody ever seen anything like this?!
I recently bought this Zebrina banana. What is going on here?! Is that the corm above the soil?! Is it some kind of double corm? The pups and roots are way down at the bottom of the bulbous portion. Aren't roots typically right at the bottom of the pseudostem? Very bizarre.. Can banana experts please help? Thanks!

Re: Has anybody ever seen anything like this?!
That's interesting. My guess is the plant and pot got knocked over, maybe more than once, and the top layer of soil fell out of the pot. That soil was never replaced. You could add soil back to the pot to make things more normal looking.

Re: Has anybody ever seen anything like this?!
Severly pot bound plants will do this sometimes, they keep growing without flowering and corms grow out of the soil. If you repot it to a larger container and plant it deeper so the soil covers the corm, new roots will form on it and it should get a pretty good growth spurt going.

Re: Has anybody ever seen anything like this?!
Yes, repot in a larger pot and add enough dirt to cover the corm to the smooth area of the stem. Make sure the soil has good drainage.
