Had this happen. What should I do?
Well my banana plant broke and the stem that holds the fruit split in the middle. Should I cut off the hands?

Re: Had this happen. What should I do?
Can you post a photo so we can see what stage it was at and how bad the damage is?

yes...cut the bunch and then chop down the plant.

Re: Had this happen. What should I do?
Cut them down and stick them in a paper bag with a couple apples. They will turn yellow in a week or so. Sometimes Orinoco doesn't turn yellow for me when picked early and will go from green to Black hanging. I recommend ripening a hand at a time as you need them. As they yellow I normally take the yellow hand out and place a next green hand in! Fresh bananas for the next month!
Good luck!

Re: Had this happen. What should I do?
If there is any connection in the flower stem to the bunch, let them be. They will continue to mature and then ripen if there is still some connection left.
