Default Growth so far

I removed, replanted or moved almost all my plants this year.
However I kept my praying hands in the same spot.

Two have actually put out fruit so far despite the squirrels attempt to destroy every leaf the trees put out.
Here they are.

This one the fruit doesn't look so hot, it suffered the most leaf damage by the varmits. They'll probably ripen just be smallish

This one however has nice fruit, and WOULD have given me some more hands had the tree rats not eaten off the bloom(see arrow where flower normally would be)!!

Not sure if anyone remembers my poor Musa Laterita from a year or two ago, it put out a flower despite the only leaf left on it was the flag (My lovely dog), well its came back strong and I just saw its flowering and it has ALLL its leafs. This should (with hope) turn out to be a beautiful bloom.

Nice photos! My laterita just started flowering this week as well. It is the most reliable bloomer for me.

Good pics. When I hear about tree rat damage I feel lucky to have resident neighborhood bobcats. I just trapped the first squirrel I noticed in the 5 years I'm in So Fla and have not seen another since. You could invite Michael or Patty over for marksmanship and swimming lessons for the tree rats. lol

Seriously though, the Havaheart trap works when baited with peanut butter. My twist on this is to place a rat trap on the Havaheart trip paddle to insure the big trap is sprung. The rat trap gets the peanut butter and holds on to it forcing smaller critters to pop poth traps. Only drawback - it just wont work on rabbits.

I have a trap and have relocated 8.
farrrr away as possible

I'll never get rid of them, just 18 months worth or so. Get rid of the population that has taught their youth and then that youth before they can teach theirs.

Simple, right ? LOL

It'll work for a spell, then one of the newer squirrels will figure out how tasty the leaves are and it'll start all over again.

Whats funny is they only attack plants that border a fence
Yet they will scrounge openly all over the yards and bypass other banana trees.

Wierd animals

Now I understand the reason for relocating those near fence naners. I bought that trap when I saw the tree rat running along the top of the fence. I thought he was eating my pole beans on the fence trellis.

I shudder when I remember the effort it took to dig up and relocate the Pitogo mat -- and of course the Saba. The 2 and 3 year old spent corms were still viable and pupping and bigger than a basketball. Had to chop them up. Even bent the Pitangodiego digging bar in the process!!!!

Squirrels that teach their young - be afraid......be very afraid!!
