Grand Nain?
I've had this plant for almost 2 years. Is this a grand nain? I'm getting impatient! No bananas....yet. The plant is about 86" tall. Pictures are posted in my photo gallery.

Re: Grand Nain?
Those are nice looking plants. To fruit they are not in a big enough container; thus they do not get enough water or nutrients due to the smaller pot. You need a pot about 25 gallons in size.
Now as to if those are Grand Nains. My GN is much bigger (3 or 4 Xs) in the pstem in the 12 months it has grown outside. Also, the 1st plant leaves are very tightly stacked at the top (???); Might be it is getting ready to fruit (???) a small bunch. Look for a short flag leaf about 1/2 or more than the other leaves. The plants need more potassium fertilizer to aid fruiting and warmth (upper 80°s) and bigger pot. I can't say these are Grand Nains, I have to compare to mine tomorrow. |
