Default Got a VC, put in a pot or in the ground?

I bought a VC back in November when I visited the wonderful place Going Bananas in Florida. I planted it in a pot when I got home and even indoors too close to a window it withered to my surprised. Then I moved it to my warmest room on the second floor and it came back and now has 3 leaves.

Here is my question, I live in Texas and expect a growing season until mid November. If I put it in the ground will it have enough time to grow and flower, it is now 1 foot in a pot indoors and I am taking it out this weekend. Either for planting outside or stay in a pot for now. This is not a TC it has a nice Corm so I hope it can grow quite fast, just don't know if it will be fast enough.

Am I better off keeping it in a pot and aim for next year? I have to keep it indoors otherwise it won't survive winter that is clear. Last year I tried it in a cool garage and it rotted fast.
Or... Can I plant it in the ground and would it be able to flower by July so I could get fruit by October November?

Appreciate advice from experienced VC growers.

Thanks

I would try this: plant it in the ground and during the growing season remove the pups and plant those in pots. This way you can at least save the pups from winter cold and plant them in spring after danger of frost. From what I have read the VC is the earliest to fruit.

I planted a 4-6" tissue culture plant in the ground last May and it flowered by late Sept. but unfortunately we had a few very early cold weeks that took it out before the flower was able to open.If you have a healthy 1+ foot well established V C and plant it in the ground I think it will have a very good chance of producing nanners before cold weather,I'm far from an expert and this is only my opinion so maybe a more experienced V C person will chime in soon

I planted it outside today and am hopeful since it is a one foot with a corm and not a TC.
