Got excited for a bit... then not so much.
My son was looking at another forum and found a listing for AeAe to be picked up because someone was moving. Wording was moving North need to get rid of them to someone that wants a nice AeAe. Was gonna be a pretty long trip to get them but my son was all ready to drive since he has his learners permit, and needed to burn through some of the hurricane gas and refill the gas cans...
I contact him via post and email. He sends me this e-mail... "OK, as said, about 6' tall (at least) and growing fine, many large leaves, growing in pot (found out this is the best way, just have to keep repotting to larger pot). Just tell me where you are (since you would pick it up) and I can provide more information...(would give you a break on cost due to driving to pick it up)...so need to know. I have 5-6 so no problem having one. Pls advise.." My son asked me how come he didn't mention that he wanted to sell them in the first place... pretty sly sales trick perhaps? Oh well... My son got a little angry that someone would bait him like that, so now he wants to clear some of our property and grow a ton of different banana's to give away to his friends, brothers and sisters friends, and anyone that wants to start growing banana's. He started that today, cleared one 10ft area and planted 4 orinoco's that already had pups starting! He also started planning where he is putting some of the other varieties he is going to try and hunt down... hahaha |
Re: Got excited for a bit... then not so much.
So how much did he want for it?

Re: Got excited for a bit... then not so much.
He never replied with a price...
I emailed him back saying I guess I misread your post because it said nothing about he was selling them. Then I followed up asking how much he wanted and he never replied. Then he added later to the forum post I guess from me calling him out on his original post in my e-mail... "These AE/AE are really nice and hate to tell you my original investment price. It is my desire to sell these to someone at a good price that will grow them and then sell, trade them, etc. But my pricing will depend on where you live and drive. I will give a break on driving distance because of gas and time. If interested, pls advise soonest...thanks..." He never got back to me on price.... |
Re: Got excited for a bit... then not so much.
It almost sounds like he wants to get you there and then give you an outrageous price. He knows he wants to sell them for more than they are usually listed and he thinks the farther you drive the more inclined you'd be to go ahead and pay for one. Still that is wrong and i'm sorry your son didn't get an AE AE but hey it all works out eventually.
thanks, alex |

ya thats what it seemed like to me as well!
How much do Ae Ae sell for? |
Re: Got excited for a bit... then not so much.
I paid $150 each for my 2 Ae's. They are expensive. It was my 28th Anniversary present this year. I wanted them. Now hope I can keep them alive. I hope they pup so I can keep one going. I am new to growing them. It is trial and error at great expense.

Re: Got excited for a bit... then not so much.
hmm nice, maybe I can convince my step mom to buy one or 2 for the kids...
My 11 year old learned how to build web sites and he is going to make a site for him and his Brother. His brother is 8 and they have been propagating mint plants to sell on ebay so they can earn some extra money. They also want me to start taking them to farmers markets once a month to sell the mint plants and possibly worm compost once things get really rolling with that. Perhaps that's something they could grow to make a little bit every once in a while as well. Trying to encourage the entrepreneur spirit in my kids! lol Congrats on the 28 years vickie!!!!!:goteam: |
