Is this a good sign: California Gold

I finally got my first bloom showing up on my California Gold clump. Obviously, no leaves are left after the winter, but the other pups in the clump are pushing out leaves. I suppose they will be capable of supplying sugars for the plant, no?

You will know in a few days when you see the fruit forming. No leaves is not great. But, at this point, whatever will be, will be. The corm has a certain amount of stored energy, which will be a major determinant in how much fruit will form and large it will be. You are just along for the ride at this point in the cycle. Sit back and enjoy.

:lurk: ... good advice!

It's my understanding that as long as a fruiting stalk is sharing a corm with leaved pups, the pups will help supply nutrients to the fruiting member.
It probably won't be very efficiently done but don't be too quick to grab the machete!

Hello,
I asked don from "going bananas" that the other day. He said there needs to be two leaves minimum for good fruit production. so based on that i cut mine down so all energy could go into the remaining pups. i had three i cut down that fruited right after freeze was over. Tough to do for sure.
good luck.
