GM leaf problem
Hi
I have a query about one of my smaller Gros Michels. The younger leaves are getting this brown edging. The plant continues growing fine; in fact it is growing rapidly despite our winter lows of 10 degrees celcius (highs of around 20 all winter). Could it be cold? (I'd have thought that it would stop growing completely if it was). I am giving it a high nitrogen feed and other than this discoloration on new leaves only, it is very happy. Any ideas? |

Re: GM leaf problem
Looks and sounds like possibly the soil maybe tainted. I'd repot this with new soil and discontinue fertilizing until winter is over. May I ask Where do you live ?
Edit: Or/and maybe just flood the pot real good a couple days in a row and discontinue fertilizing. Last edited by jbyrd88888 : 08-19-2013 at 06:14 PM. |

Re: GM leaf problem
May be just cold, have you got them in full sun to keep them warm. I find also with temp similar to yours if I don't keep them moist they brown off a bit.
Are you growing them in a pot or in the ground. Please keep me in mind for a sucker of these GM's. |

Re: GM leaf problem
That's great they are growing well. My Pacific Plantain and Red Dacca are my best performers. They are probably in the best spot for water, so I guess that helps. Can't wait for some rain. Keeping these babies moist is a job.

Poincianas are being planted (and flowering too). This would have been unheard of previously. Makes no difference to the bananas as they have been grown here since the First Fleet arrived |
