GLYPHOSATE and odd angle peduncle

IS THERE A CONNECTION ?

I grow many different cultivars and have never had an odd angle peduncle.

I use Glyphosate, but very sparingly.

Was this common before the use of Glyphosate ?

KJ --- is that bunch grown out and the fingers filled in? If so, it's amazing the weight of the bunch hasn't turned down the peduncle. Can't call it choking cause so much peduncle has emerged from the pstem.

Dan, that is not my banana plant. The photo is from "Plant diseases in Hawaii"

I believe it can cause that in a round about way. Glyphosate sometimes causes micronutrient deficiency which definitely can cause bunch emergence at odd angles.

are all the dead leaves in that pic from glyphosate?
looks like it got a good dose

Nick I'm making good progress attacking air potato with 3% glyphosate and .02% diquat (going to recalculate and besure I'm right)
In studies combating air potato the bulblets were viable with all rates of glyphosate and would sprout to re-infest the following year. This has also been my experience.

The addition of diquat dibromide acts to desiccate the bulblets which then rot.
Proper timing to insure bulblets don't exceed one inch will provide highest bulblet fatality with this rate of diquat.

I've got the use of 1/2 acre bordering a swamp. It's overrun with air potato and I'm clearing it now.
Can you say MUCK BANANAS??? :nanadrink:
