Gift of mystery bananas

I met up with someone today who said that I could have pups from their bananas - she said she had red bananas, small bananas and another type - just come and ask her gardener for them. When I get them and once they have grown to a decent size, I will be asking for help in identifying them. I already have a source for more "rulos" - chunky and apple flavoured. Exciting planting!!! I also have my old source of Cavendish to fall back on - how I wish they knew what they had here, but I am sure that once they have grown and /or reached the fruiting stage I can call on the help of the experts here. Although nanas grow so fast - I am so impatient!!! It makes me realise how kind people can be. Thank you.

Sounds like your banana collection will grow back much stronger than it ever was.
Great to hear how kind people are sharing their banana plants.

Give someone a fish they eat for a night
Teach them how to catch a fish, they eat forever...

Same with bananas!

Give a banana, they eat for a day
Give a banana plant, they eat forever...

Re: Gift of mystery bananas

My new pups are starting to grow and I am foliar feeding them atm. They are 1 apple, 1 red, 2 cavendish, 1 small banana, 1 suspected plantain and the orphan from the lagoon. The growth is only apparent to a fond parent at present, so not worth photographing. I also have 2 rulos on the way, and it will be interesting to see how they compare with the apple plant. The orphan from the lagoon looks as though it has lost its red variegation.
