Default Fruit splitting with Pisang mas

Hi all,

has anyone had trouble with fruit splitting on Pisang mas (Sucrier), ( Lady Finger in the wiki).
Some of the fruit are splitting before they are ripe.

Are there any conditions that would cause this splitting.

I've taken 1 hand and placed it in the fridge hopefully this will slow down the tendency to split.

Thanks

Once a fruit has completely filled, high humidity is the #1 reason they'll split in my climate.

I harvested a bunch of dwarf Namwa yesterday for splitting. The bunch set in August so I thought I could let them hang until march or April.. Our heavy January rainfall is probably responsible. Regardless they appear fully developed and should be delicious.

Thanks for all the comments.
Having looked at many articles, high humidity seems to be a major cause of splitting. WE had a few weeks of very high humidity with high temperatures.
I took down the whole bunch though still green and no more splitting.

You placing the hand of bananas in the fridge may help slow down the ripening process and potentially reduce the risk of further splitting. However, it's important to note that this method might affect the flavor and texture of the fruit.

Sudden fluctuations in soil moisture levels, such as periods of dryness followed by heavy watering or rain, can cause the fruits to take up water rapidly. This quick uptake can lead to increased internal pressure, causing the fruit to split. To prevent this, ensure a consistent and moderate watering schedule to avoid extreme fluctuations in soil moisture.

I have had pretty good results at stopping splitting by cutting down the bunch and removing hands immediately at the first sign of ripening.
