Frog Banana
On the way to the airport in MoBay the driver Willy said "I have banana for you mon" and he pointed to this rather large yet flat banana. "Frog banana, mon" he said. I laughed.
It's Orinoco! But they call them Frog bananas. Not sure why - never heard from anyone if it's because tree frogs like Orinocos better than other bananas or anything else. Anyone ever heard of this? |
Re: Frog Banana
It's not Orinoco. The West Indian dictionary says about the frog banana-----
"A medium sized banana. It is somewhat thicker than other variety of bananas, and has red skin unlike other bananas". Sounds like the one called Jamaican Red. Right Ron? |

Re: Frog Banana
It wasn't red. The Honey banana, as they call it, is the Jamaican Red Banana. The Frog banana that I ate was an Orinoco without a doubt having grown them and eaten them for years in SE Louisiana.
