I have a pellet gun too but my aim varies day to day. I tried a "have a heart cage" and would move squirrels a couple of miles away. But its illegal to transport wild life so if you get caught there is a fine. I recently have had success with peanut butter and rat traps. Caught a lot of mice too. Two neighbors have crab apple trees and they really attract squirrels. I haven't had anything munch on my banana plants yet. About a week ago I cleaned out the squirrels and that lasted about a week before they were replaced with a new bunch. No pun intended.

Squirrels? I occasionally see rabbits and road runners here, but they never bother my plants. Animals don't like it here... neither should humans.... (neither do bananas. I just chopped most my banana plants down because they looked so bad!)

Not a bad idea until the tree gets huge like ours.

I got a few that hang around here. Luckily they haven't become a nuisance yet other than eating bird feed. But I stopped feeding the birds because there were to many grackles and sparrows.

I might try the kania trap. I hate to kill the little bastards, but I've been working on creating a jungle for 8-9 years now and all of a sudden this year they decide they like the taste of cigar leaves. I have less than half the leaves I should have for this time of year and the ones I do are tattered.

Might have to look up some squirrel recipes.

Squirrels are destroying everything here as well. I don't get what it is about this year, lots of other food around. Looks like I may be getting a dog this week, hope that will help.

Y'all have me worried. I have Squirrels by the hundreds everywhere here. We have gray cat squirrels, red fox squirrels, black squirrels, and white squirrels. My land touches national forest on 2 sides. They never touch any of my banana plants and I have banana plants everywhere! I just hope they never get a taste because I would have a major problem. Good luck with your squirrel problems.

I just went out to find one of my almost ready watermelons tore up. Squirrels, raccoons, possums, I don't care. They all need to die.

Varieties I supposedly bought: Manzano, Cavendish, Blue Java, Sweetheart, and Gros Michel.
What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more.

I am allergic to dogs and cats I have both and no squirrels.

Years ago one of my clients recommended owning a dog and cat as he said I could build up an immunity or resistance to my own animals (not others) so I got Lab.

Well it has been over 30 years and I have had a dog and cat since then. Whether or not you would benefit from owning a dog I can't say but it can't hurt.

Also I understand some dogs are less likely to cause an allergic reaction like breeds with hait instead of fur?

it can happen at night when they arent out there

the cat came in one day with blood and a tendon hanging out of his eye

i was just going to cut it off... he seemed to be able to look in all directions
my sister brought him in for surgery instead

Grey Squirrels are the culprit. Google Grey Squirrels in the United Kingdom and see the hits you get!
