Flower problem
 

I cut this guy in half due to freezing rot. Now it decides to flower. Any suggestions?

You're lucky! You cut it just above the flower bud. My grandmother cuts the bananas in her yard just so the fruit will be an easy reach. I have always wanted to learn from her when to do it, but I never got to asking her whenever we visit her in the province.

I'd just let that flower keep going. The other plants in the mat will give the flowering plant nutritional support. Just keep at least 2 full p-stems attached in order to maximize the production.

Thanks fir the advise. I just got lucky on the cut. It flowered about 3 weeks after I cut it. I'm more worried about the nanas hitting the ground.

That's lucky! what is it orinoco or something? You might want to put something around it when the bananas show up if they get really close to the ground. like a small cage perhaps, just my opinion something I would do. best of luck !

good luck with them, all of ours are still too small to bloom but am hoping for some this summer.

How long did it take for your Namwah to flower? I have one too.

I bought it as a pup and it took about 14 months to flower. Good luck with yours!!
