Florida Hard Freeze
Need advise... who do I do. The freeze that we had the past few days have touched the bananas. The leaves are brown and swaging, the stem is soggy. What should I do? I've heard many suggestions.... cut at soggiest point..... remove brown leaves.... I'm not sure what is correct. I know we may just get another "hard freeze" so I think maybe I should wait to see what happens and just leave them alone for now. Please could someone advise me as the correct action. Dorothy

Re: Florida Hard Freeze
We have that problem with our bananas too. What we decided to to was wait out the winter before cutting anything back. I think this protects what has not been damaged. If there is another freeze then the tender live areas are exposed to the cold. I think the dead leaves provide some protection. That is my opionion anyway.

Re: Florida Hard Freeze
Yes, wait till you are sure there will be no more hard freezes then trim all the mushy stuff of the plants.

Thanks for the advise. I was thinking the same thing. Glad to know that I'm going in the right direction. Hopefully no more harsh weather. Dorothy
